I am part of the Talent Experience team at Gatwick, my role provides expertise and direction on all aspects of learning and development including a strong focus on leaders. I’m accountable for implementing development activities to ensure that London Gatwick has the capability to meet its future goals.
Some of my key responsibilities span learning & development, leadership development, performance cycle, talent management and employee engagement. I also look after our focus on apprenticeship programmes to upskill our colleagues.
London Gatwick is the UK’s second largest airport and is a vital piece of national infrastructure that helps drive both the regional and national economy. In 2024 over 43 million passengers travelled through London Gatwick with access to over 160 short-haul and 54 long-haul destinations, served by 59 airlines.
Being part of an industry-wide network has enabled our organisation to gain deeper insight into opportunities and the challenges that the wider sector faces. This collaboration has helped shape and energise the strategies and tactics that we use to support the growth of skills.
As a member it’s been incredibly valuable to hear the diverse perspectives and practices shared by fellow Board members. These exchanges have provided London Gatwick with practical advice and examples of best practice across the apprenticeship and skills landscape, directly contributing to our expansion of up-skilling opportunities through apprenticeships.
By having a joined-up voice, the AISB has given the sector further access to Government and policy makers. This has enabled our views to be considered relating to apprenticeships and skills . It’s extremely encouraging to see the active and continuing participation from appropriate government departments at each board meeting.
